EMPIRE OF DREAMS NOW EXTENDING!

DO YOU DREAM ABOUT CITIES?
SHARE YOUR DREAM!

Inspired with dreams about some cities, which I have received during the project EMPIRE OF DREAMS, I decided to create a guidebook.
I invite you to share your dreams which are connected with different cities, both existing in real world, or the dreamed only. With these dreams, alternative travel guidebook will be created. I want to create a geography of dreams, a map of cities from dreamland, cities that exist in reality, as well as the ones that do not. I would like to see changes in these maps, and find differences between the real and the dreamed. I would like to read about other travellers’ adventures in these worlds. I would like to find the knowledge about the world that is concealed in dreams . I would like to take this map and visit cities in dreamland.

You can send me a dream anonymously, or you can have your name revealed – it is up to you.

If you want to share your dream with me, please contact me by sending an e-mail to:

INVISIBLE CITIES / NIEWIDZIALNE MIASTA

Zjedź w dół, by zobaczyć polską wersję tekstu

6 pictures painted with invisilble ink, some of them partly revealed. Artwork presented at Golden Thread Gallery in Belfast, as a part of the goup show THIS MUST BE THE PLACE

As an artist, I send a lot of pojects to remote cities. In my site-specific installations I need to get to know the place I am preparing the project for. I have to spend a lot of time trying to discover every city, surrounded by its images on my computer's wallpaper, by maps and travel boooks, books written by writers from the city, or detective stories, which take part there. Sometimes it takes me a month. Month of soaking in a different city, its culture, its myths.
I can experience it by websites, books and maps only. The devices are extensions of my own body and senses. The image of these cities is altered by the devices, it is blurred.
And after a month or two, I often have an information that this time I was unsuccesful, and I won't see this city. Reality of the city will never be revealed, there will be no juxtaposition of the real city and my internal image of it. But I never consider the time which I have spent researching the places as a wasted time. The imagined cities are still important for me, they are a part of my secret, invisible library.

6 obrazów malowanych atramentem sympatycznym, kilka z nich częściowo wywołanych.
Prace prezentowane w Golden Thread Gallery w Belfaście, jako część wystawy THIS MUST BE THE PLACE
