Foundation 14 Arts Festival opens tonight at 7 pm in Tullamore, Co. Offaly.
Among the works of more than 50 artists, my new pieces 'Invisible cities' will be shown.

INVISIBLE CITIES are the set of works that contain drawings on paper, made with water. The deformation of the paper caused by water is be the only proof that anything was drawn.
The drawings represent the maps of the cities where I applied for a residency or exhibition, but my applications were rejected. I have started this set of works in 2013 and now it is still extending, being fed by curators' refusals.
The time when an artist is unsuccesful is a time of inefficiency. It is a time of loss of energy and resources. That is why I use water, which is free of charge in Ireland, where I live. Also, it is invisible or visible only temporarily. Almost paralell rays of light are necessary to reveal the deformation, so if the works are shown in natural light, their content will be visible only during certain moments of the day. This way I can share my experience of the failure with viewers.

Dziś o 19.00 w Tullamore (Irlandia) odbędzie się otwarcie Foundation 14 Arts Festival. Pod wspólnym tytułem - - BATTERY + zostaną pokazane prace ponad 50 artystów, w tym moje 'Niewidzialne Miasta'. Festiwal potrwa do 28 września.
NIEWIDZIALNE MIASTA to cykl prac rysowanych wodą na papierze. Spowodowana przez wodę deformacja papieru to jedyny dowód, że coś zostało narysowane.
Rysunki przedstawiają mapy miast, do których aplikowałam o rezydencję lub udział w wystawie, ale moje aplikacje zostały odrzucone. Rozpoczęłam cykl w 2013 roku, odtąd ciągle się on rozwija, pasożytując na odmowach kuratorów.
Czas, w którym artysta nie odnosi sukcesów, to czas stracony. To czas utraty energii i środków. Dlatego używam najtańszego papieru i wody, która w Irlandii, gdzie mieszkam, jest za darmo. Obecność wody w pracach jest niemal niewidzialna. Żeby wydobyć deformację papieru, potrzebne są niemal równoległe promienie światła, więc kiedy prace są wystawiane w naturalnym oświetleniu, są widoczne tylko o pewnych porach dnia; w pozostałym czasie wydają się puste. W ten sposób mogę podzielić się z odbiorcą moim doświadczeniem porażki.
